Burnout Risk Study

Lowe's

A 3-month long project to track employee burnout in various demographic breakout groups and other factors within the Corporate sector.

About

Using engagement survey feedback to map response data against the stated burnout risk factors & EVP factors in order to better understand attrition and why it occurs, as well as develop actions we could take as an organization to minimize burnout where possible and provide resources to manage it where mitigation isn't feasible.

Challenge

In order to determine how to use the engagement feedback to determine burnout risk, had to consider what parts of the employee experience would fall into each of the burnout and EVP factors.

Action

Once i had mapped the feedback to the relevant factors, I was able to pull the data and run analyses. This allowed me to review category as it correlates to engagement, demonstrating how these facets are connected. Additionally, I ran correlation statistics between engagement scores and each factor in order to determine the importance of each factor in regard to burnout risk.

In order to calculate burnout risk scores, it was necessary to invert my engagement data for each item and then calculate as a weighted average. Using this information, I was able to convert these into a burnout risk score on a 10-point scale, with 1 being No Risk of Burnout and 10 being Extreme Risk of Burnout.
