Cross-Cultural Preparation Program
Confidential
Proposal for a comprehensive cross-cultural preparation program for expatriates going abroad to Japan.
About
An automobile manufacturer operating in the United States were planning a redesign of their cross-cultural preparation program for expatriates going abroad to Japan to broaden their knowledge and skills of the business.
My proposal is a comprehensive program that addresses employee concerns as well as preparing and supporting employees across all three phases of the program.
*In order to protect the confidentiality of the project, the organization name and any propietary information will be redacted in the attached images.

Challenge
Cross-cultural training both facilitates expatriate adjustment to their new role and environment and decreases the rate of expatriate failure. Certain aspects of the program should be discussed and decided prior to any pre-departure work or training. This includes having a defined length for the program, interviewing repatriates, and ensuring an inclusive program.
Action
My proposal involves 3 phases: pre-departure, onsite, and repatriation. Each phase involves a multi-step approach with recommendations for implementation.
In order to measure program effectiveness, I prescribe a program evaluation plan involving surveys, learning assessments to be completed throughout the onsite phase, and measures for determining program success or failure.
